Steve Hill Biography

Steve is a versatile entertainer and Civil Celebrant based in Brisbane, Qld.

Growing up in Liverpool (in the North West of England), Steve was naturally mad on the Beatles and football. After picking up the guitar at an early age, he soon developed an interest in music and singing.

After completing a degree in Business Studies he found the prospect of an office career a little ‘dry’ and promptly ran off to Butlins Holiday Camp, Minehead, to work a season as one of the famous ‘Redcoats’. It was here that he really got the taste for entertainment, and there was no looking back.

Over the next ten years he travelled extensively as an entertainer with long summer and winter seasons in Mallorca, Benidorm, Ibiza, Tunisia and Portugal, organising and hosting the entertainment and activities for the big hotel complexes.

Steve then spread his wings even further and spent several years cruising around the world on various shipping lines before ending up as Cruise Director for P&O onboard “Oriana”. This led to a serious shipboard romance, and with his wife-to-be they left the sea and decided to make Australia home.

After a short spell running the activities on Lindeman Island, Steve and Lynn headed for Brisbane, and have been living there ever since, with their two sons, Sean and Mitchell.

Steve moved into Radio, and worked as Promotions Manager with Brisbane radio station 4BC, also doubling as outside reporter and ‘jingle’ writer, before going back fulltime to stage work, always his first love.

His natural ability to be able to put an audience at ease led him to further his career by becoming a Civil Celebrant, adding another string to his many talents.
